News & Notes

SUNDAY SCHOOL During the Sunday School hour (9:30-10:15 am) the adult class is studying the Augsburg Confession. The children and youth classes meet during the same time.

BOARD of MISSIONS COLLECTION For the month of April we are collecting non-perishable food items for the Moundridge Food Bank. Donated items can be placed in the cart located by the church office. Thanks!

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY This once-a-month study will be held this coming Saturday, April 11th from 7:45-8:45 am at The Hub in Moundridge. All men of the congregation are invited and feel free to bring a guest!

MISSIONARY PARTNERSHIP Our Together-In-Mission partners – Rev. Michael and Shanna Hageman – are leaving this week for Tanzania where Rev. Hageman will serve as a theological educator for local Lutheran pastors and Shanna will teach English as a second language. If you’d like to give toward supporting the Hageman’s and the Lord’s mission to Tanzania, “Together-In-Mission” offering envelopes can be found on the shelf in the narthex that you can use in giving your support through the Sunday morning offering. Make checks payable to “Immanuel Lutheran Church” and the church will forward these offerings to the Office of International Mission once a quarter.

THE APRIL – JUNE PORTALS OF PRAYER are available on the shelf in the narthex. Large-print copies are also available.

THE APRIL CALENDAR and NOTES can be found on the stand in the narthex.

NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY begins this Wednesday at 6:30 pm. The book being used this go-around is “Strong and Courageous: Studying God’s Promises in Joshua” by Donna Snow. You can purchase the book on Amazon or through CPH.org. All ladies of the congregation are invited and feel free to bring a snack to share as there is also a time of fellowship following the study.

SERMON Printed copies of today’s sermon can be found after the Service on the stand in the narthex. Take one for your own use or to give to someone else!

THE LUTHERAN LAYMEN’S LEAGUE (Men’s Group) meets this Tuesday, April 7th at 7:00 pm. All men of the congregation are invited.

THE MOWING LIST is now posted on the bulletin board by the church office. There are separate lines for each week for mowing either the church year or the cemetery. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT “The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said.’” The Good News is not just that Jesus is risen, but that He is risen to bless us — there is no need to be afraid. He still calls us His friends and brothers and means to bring us through death to resurrection as well. The Lord is risen, He is risen indeed!

LIFE QUOTE “The cross that held Jesus’ body exposed all the sin, violence, and injustice of this world for what it is. At once, the cross revealed what kind of world we have and what kind of God we have: a world of gross unfairness but also a God of sacrificial love.” Rev. Gregory Seltz, Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty. A Life Quote from Lutherans for Life-www.lutheransforlife.org

+ For our brothers and sisters who face persecution for faith in Christ.

+ For missionaries Michael and Shanna Hageman as they leave this week to begin work in Tanzania.

+ For those who battle addictions and/or are incarcerated, that they may know the peace and hope that only Jesus can give.

LIVESTREAM HELP - We are needing to train a third person on live streaming for Sunday Adult Bible Study and Worship service time. Please contact Brent for details. This would involve setting up the iPad, logging onto Facebook and our church website, copying and pasting some links, maybe adjusting some volumes during the worship service periodically. We would also show you how to set up the video camera and amplifier for use with the Fellowship Hall TV / Sound System.

PRIVATE CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION - Pastor Slater will be available in his office, for any individuals who would like to have private Confession and Absolution in preparation for receiving Holy Communion, from 9:00am to Noon, each Saturday prior to the Sundays in which the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. This is of course voluntary and not required for receiving Communion. Just an opportunity to further prepare your heart and mind for anyone who might so desire. Any questions, please let Pastor know.
